The half-back merry-go-round?
Could there be some kind of merry go round trade amongst the half backs, Coleman, Short, Houston??
– Smith
At least two of those players named (Coleman and Short) definitely want to leave, and there have been a couple of quiet rumours about the third (Houston). Collingwood, it seems, is a chance to be involved in all three cases.
The Pies have had discussions with Jayden Short already, but there are reports around that Keidean Coleman is also interested in the Magpies. Seems unlikely they would go after both, so will the Pies be forced to make a choice?
And if they do bring in a new HBF (or even two!), what does that do for Houston? A fair bit still to play out there.
It seems to me the most likely outcome would be Short joining Collingwood, Houston staying put and Coleman heading elsewhere (or even staying at Brisbane, given the hard bargain they would drive). But as we saw yesterday, thing can change quickly.
