Nearly 47.6 lakh voters in Delhi have found their names missing from the draft electoral roll released under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, leaving only 97.54 lakh of the capital’s 1.45 crore registered electors on the draft list. The Election Commission has opened a window for those left out to seek inclusion, giving voters until September 30 to file their claims. If you have been living in Delhi for decades but cannot find your name in the draft voter list, here is what you need to do to get it included before the final roll is published.

FIRST, CHECK WHETHER YOUR NAME IS ACTUALLY MISSING
Before filing any application, check your name on the ECI’s Voter Services Portal.
The portal allows voters to search their electoral-roll details and, under the SIR 2026 section, check their names in the relevant electoral roll. You can search using details such as your name, relative’s name, age, assembly constituency, and other electoral information. You can also use your EPIC or voter ID number where applicable.
If your name does not appear in the first search, check the spelling and other details again before concluding that it has been removed.
IF YOUR NAME IS MISSING FROM THE DRAFT ROLL
If you are an eligible voter but your name does not appear in the draft electoral roll, you can file a claim for inclusion.
For inclusion of a name in the electoral roll, Form 6 is the relevant form. During SIR, voters whose names have been left out of the draft can submit claims along with the required supporting documents within the applicable claims and objections period.
The application can be submitted through the ECI’s voter services system or through the relevant electoral authorities, including the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) or designated officials, as applicable.
WHAT DOCUMENTS MAY BE REQUIRED?
The documents required can depend on the application and the instructions applicable to the particular SIR exercise.
Form 6 requires information and supporting documents relating to eligibility, age and ordinary residence. Voters should check the latest Form 6 guidelines before submitting their application.
Do not rely on lists of documents circulating on social media. Use the documents and instructions specified by the ECI or the concerned state chief electoral officer.
WHAT IF YOUR NAME IS THERE BUT DETAILS ARE WRONG?
If your name is already present in the electoral roll but there is an error in your details, you generally do not need to apply for fresh registration.
Instead, Form 8 is used for correction of an existing electoral-roll entry.
Form 8 can also be used for shifting your residence and certain EPIC-related services.
IF YOU HAVE MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS
If you have shifted your ordinary residence, Form 8 can be used to request shifting of your electoral-roll entry to your new address.
The application is submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer of the constituency where you now ordinarily reside, along with the required documents.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU FILE A CLAIM?
After an application is submitted, the electoral authorities may conduct the required verification before taking a decision.
In some cases, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) or other designated officials may be involved in the verification process.
Applicants should keep their application details and acknowledgement information safely so that they can track the status of their application through the official voter services system where the facility is available.
WHAT IF YOU RECEIVE A NOTICE?
Some voters whose names appear in the draft roll may also receive notices if there are discrepancies or issues requiring verification.
In Delhi, officials have said notices may be issued where details could not be linked with the 2002 intensive revision roll or where anomalies are found in enumeration forms.
If you receive such a notice, follow the instructions provided by the electoral authorities and submit the required documents within the specified period.
WHAT IF YOUR APPLICATION IS REJECTED?
If your claim is rejected, the electoral-roll system provides an appeal mechanism.
The applicable authority and procedure can depend on whether the application is being considered during the revision process or during continuous updation.
Voters should follow the appeal instructions mentioned in the relevant official order or communication from the election authorities.
WHERE CAN YOU CHECK YOUR NAME?
The ECI’s Voter Services Portal is the main place to check electoral-roll information and access voter services.
Voters can use the official portal to search their names, access SIR-related services and apply through the relevant forms.
For Delhi, voters can also check the latest information issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, including the draft electoral roll and claims-and-objections process.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DATE
If your name is missing from the SIR draft roll, the most important thing is to act within the applicable claims and objections period.
For Delhi, voters have until September 30, 2026 to file claims and objections, while the final electoral roll is scheduled for November 4.
If your name is completely missing, check whether Form 6 is applicable to your case. If your name is already present but your details need correction or you have shifted residence, Form 8 is generally the relevant form.
Most importantly, check the latest instructions issued by the ECI and your State Chief Electoral Officer, as SIR schedules and procedures can vary across states.
