Liz Hurley has banned herself from buying anymore clothes because she finds it “unsettling” to see how much she already has.

The 61-year-old actress opened up about her decision to ban any sartorial spending as she appeared on the Sheer Luxe podcast, looking chic in a bright pink shirt and some black trousers.

She said: “I’ve decided to stop buying clothes. So I’m buying almost nothing.

“I just have too much. I have too much and it’s overwhelming and I find it quite unsettling now. So you know when you go through stages, like I remember a cream cashmere sweater stage but I must have 40. And I still want to buy… if I see one, my eyes go ‘cream cashmere sweater’ but I now say, ‘just don’t get it’.

“So I’ve just stopped buying stuff apart from jeans and underwear.”

She added that because she’s got so many clothes, it “would be impossible” to get wear out of all of them.

Liz then continued: “Of course I can’t fit into all of them but he ones that I can get into, they’re just getting worn again.”

As for whether or not Liz clears things out every now and then to cut down her vast clothing collection, she said admitted she’s very picky about who she would give them to.

She mused: “I’ve just got beautiful things, And I don’t want to give them to someone who is going to put them in the washing machine at the wrong temperature or trash them.

“I don’t have a daughter, so I just hoard them.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Liz admitted she’s been “inspired” by people like Katherine, the Princess of Wales, to recycle red carpet outfits – which is something she would previously never have dared to do herself.

She explained: “So I did go back up to the attic to get all my big dresses back out to see. I mean, I can’t fit into all of them and some of them aren’t appropriate for me now, but I have found quite a few that I’ve been rewearing and it gives me immense joy from doing that.

“Because obviously if you have a piece you wore 25 or 30 years ago and it had so much sentimental value…but then it’s just been in a box for 25, 30 years

“So it’s actually amazing getting them out again and seeing the craftsmanship because they’re all couture – beautiful stuff.”
