Actor Mahima Chaudhry has been fielding a steady stream of messages lately, and they all have one thing in common. Fans online have been pointing out the striking resemblance between her daughter, Arina Chaudhry, and American actor Mika Abdalla, who plays Allie Hayes in the Prime Video series Off Campus.

The comparisons gained traction on social media soon after the show’s release, with several viewers also noting that Mika bears a resemblance to a young Mahima from her debut film, Pardes.

Reacting to the viral chatter, Mahima, in an interview with Hindustan Times, said she was well aware of the comparisons and found them impossible to ignore.

“Yeah, I know. I love her, she’s fantastic. How can people from two different continents have such an uncanny resemblance,” she said, adding that her phone had been flooded with messages about Mika and Arina looking alike.

The actor revealed that the resemblance was so convincing that some people even assumed her daughter had already entered the entertainment industry.

“Some people called and asked if Arina had made her debut. I told them, ‘No, not yet. There’s this Campus thing that’s going viral.’ A lot of people sent it to me. It was quite entertaining,” she said.

Mahima added that she was delighted by the comparisons.

“It’s flattering to see someone so cute and have people say that you look alike. Definitely use it to your advantage. I’m geeked about the resemblance because I find her very cute. If people say I look like her or Arina looks like her, I’m very happy,” she said.

Speaking about her daughter’s future plans, Mahima shared that Arina has recently completed Class 12 and is currently taking some time to decide her next steps.

“She just finished her 12th, and she’s taken a year off to figure out life,” the actor said.

Mahima also admitted that she would be happy to see Arina pursue a career in entertainment.

“I want her to be in entertainment, for sure. I think there’s nothing better than entertaining people. Being part of the entertainment industry in any capacity, because I’ve enjoyed it so much. I like the industry,” she said.

Born in 2007, Arina has already garnered attention on social media through her posts and public appearances. Meanwhile, conversations around her resemblance to Mika continue to gather momentum online, with reports suggesting that a second season of Off Campus will centre on Mika’s character and her on-screen romance with Stephen Kalyn’s character.
