Mahindra has expanded the XUV 3XO range with the introduction of a factory-fitted CNG option, bringing a dual-fuel powertrain to its compact SUV. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with bookings and deliveries scheduled to commence on October 20, 2026. The CNG-powered SUV will be available in four variants.
The new CNG version adds another powertrain choice to the XUV 3XO lineup, which already includes petrol, diesel and electric options. It also marks Mahindra’s return to the passenger vehicle CNG segment after the KUV100 Trip.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG engine and mileage

Powering the XUV 3XO CNG is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder MPFI turbo-petrol engine adapted to operate on both petrol and CNG. Mahindra claims an output of 111hp and 200Nm in either fuel mode, with revised turbocharger calibration and engine control unit (ECU) mapping helping maintain performance.
The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The SUV has a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.7km/kg, although actual mileage will depend on driving conditions and usage. The system can also switch automatically to petrol when the CNG supply runs low.
Unlike conventional CNG installations that can significantly reduce luggage space, the XUV 3XO uses a dual-cylinder storage arrangement. The setup allows the SUV to retain a claimed 270-litre boot capacity, while the spare wheel is positioned underneath the vehicle.
Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG features and design
The CNG variant retains the standard XUV 3XO’s exterior styling and cabin layout. A ‘ZNG’ badge on the tailgate distinguishes it from the petrol and diesel versions, while equipment availability varies according to the variant selected.
Depending on the trim, features include 16-inch alloy wheels, a body-coloured grille, LED projector headlamps, daytime running lamps and connected LED tail-lamps. The dual-fuel setup also brings dedicated fuel-level information for the petrol and CNG systems.
Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG rivals
The XUV 3XO CNG enters a segment that includes the Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG and Tata Nexon iCNG. The Brezza CNG is priced between Rs 9.4 lakh and Rs 11.6 lakh, while the Nexon CNG range spans Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 13.42 lakh, according to the prices provided.
With its turbocharged engine, six-speed manual transmission and dual-cylinder packaging, the XUV 3XO CNG offers a different approach to buyers considering a factory-fitted CNG compact SUV. Its appeal will depend on how its real-world fuel efficiency, usable boot space and performance compare with established rivals.
