A man from Uttar Pradesh was seen finding his own way around a traffic jam by driving his Thar straight onto the footpath while his mother sat in the passenger seat.
X account Saffron Charges shared the video and detailed the incident in a post that criticised the driver’s actions.
In the video, the man was seen recording from the driver’s seat as heavy traffic came to a standstill ahead of him. Instead of waiting with the other vehicles, he drove his Thar up onto the raised footpath beside the road and continued moving ahead.

As he drove along the pavement, he turned the camera towards his mother, who was seated beside him, and said, “This is the advantage of having a Thar, you can climb it anywhere.” His mother was seen smiling as he continued driving.
The video later showed him bringing the vehicle back onto the road after bypassing the traffic. At one point, a biker was standing ahead, following which the Thar driver was seen gesturing for him to move his bike forward. The biker then moved ahead.
The account also wrote that the man appeared to be amused by his own shortcut, claiming that the real advantage of owning a Thar was being able to take it almost anywhere to get past traffic.

The video, however, did not go down well with several social media users, who criticised him for treating a pedestrian footpath as an alternative lane.
One user sarcastically suggested that a mental stability test should be mandatory before buying certain SUVs.
Another pointed out that owning a capable vehicle did not give someone special privileges on the road, adding that driving onto pavements could put pedestrians and other road users at risk. The user also criticised the driver’s apparent attempt to intimidate the biker.
Others were equally unimpressed by his mother’s reaction. One user wrote that if they had attempted something similar in front of their own mother, they would have been slapped and made to apologise to the biker.
For the Thar driver, the footpath may have looked like a convenient escape from traffic. For the internet, however, it looked more like a shortcut through basic civic sense.
