Mandy Moore thinks parenting is the “great equaliser”.
The 42-year-old star has Gus, five, Ozzie, three, and Lou, 23 months, with husband Taylor Goldsmith – but Mandy doesn’t think “anybody has it figured out” as a parent.
Speaking to Extra, Mandy explained: “I think the thing about parenting is it’s the great equaliser.
“Like, we are all in the same boat. No one is above the chaos and the fray of having a kid or multiple children … I don’t think anybody has it figured out.
“I think recognising it’s going to be a lot, like, you are probably going to lose your patience and so not having this expectation of like parenting going off without a hitch … So, having the grace for yourself to recognise that, like, no one is immune to it, we’re all going through this together as parents.”
Mandy has learned the value of calmness and patience with her children.
She said: “Calm is contagious … Kids are sponges and they pick up on your behaviour. So, if you can find it before you blow your top, if you can find it within yourself to, like, take a deep breath and just like sigh it out, they pick up on that.”
Earlier this month, Mandy insisted she has no intention of having more children.
The actress admitted that her family is already complete.
She told Us Weekly: “I know on Instagram, I must have engaged with someone who was pregnant because now my entire feed is just, like, pregnant people, and I’m like, ‘That’s never gonna be me again’.
“On one hand, I’m like, I am so tired, I cannot imagine another baby. But then, I kind of come to terms with I probably will feel this way for the foreseeable future.”
Mandy loves being present for the landmark moments in the lives of her children.
She said: “We are absolutely done and so grateful for our family.
“We’re savouring all the little things. We’re on the precipice of potty training. We have some potties around the house [for Lou], and so I’m like, ‘Wow, we’re gonna be done with diapers in the foreseeable future. Wow, there’s no more bottles. There’s no more all of that.’”
