An urgent search is under way for a prisoner who escaped from custody in Darwin overnight.
Isacc Thompson fled custody while being escorted from an ambulance into the emergency department at Royal Darwin Hospital shortly after 8pm on Sunday.
Police say the 26-year-old was handcuffed and wearing only a pair of shorts and socks when he fled, and was last seen running along Rocklands Rd.
Thompson is a known associate of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang, NT Police say.
His escape has sparked a manhunt involving the fugitive taskforce and dog squad, with Sergeant Kenneth Bradshaw urging Thompson to hand himself in.
“We’re asking members of the public not to approach him,” he said.
“If you see him, call triple-0 immediately.”
