Michelle Pfeiffer “never wants to star in another movie”.
The Oscar-nominated actress has appeared in countless films over the years, including Scarface (1983), Batman Returns (1992), and Hairspray (2007), but admits ensemble TV projects are “much more fun” after working on Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison.
During The Hollywood Reporter’s THR x Apple TV’s Leading the Narrative: The Women of Apple TV event on Sunday (02.08.26), Pfeiffer, 68, declared: “I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much.”
The star was drawn to Margo’s Got Money Troubles because of its complex characters and its heartfelt message.
Pfeiffer said: “I’ve just been so bowled over by the female performances on television and honestly, they’re just really owning TV.
“I love how complicated and flawed all these characters are, and it really reminds me of that famous Robin Williams quote where he says, ‘Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and be kind.’
“That kind of, for me, sums up the show and the message of the show, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”
It comes after the entertainer felt “a little nervous” about starring in the 2025 Christmas comedy film, Oh. What. Fun., directed by Michael Showalter.
Speaking to People last December, Pfeiffer explained: “You’re in good hands with [Showalter] no matter what he does, but if you’re going to do comedy and a little bit of a screwball comedy, you couldn’t be in better hands.
“And so, I was a little nervous because it was zany, and I also don’t ever think that I’m funny, so when I committed to do it, I remember saying to Michael, ‘OK, I’m going to do this, but you better make me funny.’
“So that was our running joke throughout filming, but I’m so glad I did it and some of those things.”
Pfeiffer found that she got more confident in her comedy acting as the shoot progressed.
She said: “For me as an actor, the more I trust my director, the more I’ll go out on a limb. And that’s a wonderful, wonderful way to work because you discover things – and not all of it’s going to be good.
“There were a couple of things that I actually really loved, and they didn’t end up in the movie: I get tackled by a security guard and stuff.”
The Grease 2 alum previously admitted to feeling insecure about her acting talents during her younger years.
Pfeiffer told Entertainment Tonight: “I think it comes from not having a background of formal training, you know, in the beginning.
“And I think when I started out, a lot of actors were coming out of Juilliard and I was just this young person from Orange County, kind of just getting by on my instincts purely and I think, for the longest time, I felt like it wasn’t really enough and maybe didn’t give me the credibility and maybe because I had to find my technique as I went along.”
