Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday concluded his three-day visit to Seychelles after holding wide-ranging talks with President Patrick Herminie on boosting bilateral ties and advancing a shared vision for a safe and prosperous Indian Ocean region.
During the visit, India and Seychelles unveiled 19 outcomes across defence, maritime security, digital payments, space, healthcare, agriculture and education. Modi also attended Seychelles’ National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour, addressed its national assembly and was conferred with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ by President Herminie.

Modi was seen off at the airport by Seychelles Vice-President Sebastien Pillay and members of the Indian diaspora. After his departure, he said in a post on X, “My visit to Seychelles has been filled with substantive outcomes that will boost the India-Seychelles friendship.” He also said the past 50 years of India-Seychelles ties have been marked by deep trust and shared progress, adding, “The next fifty years will be defined by innovation, sustainability and shared prosperity.”
The visit had begun on Saturday. Modi joined the golden jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day and later posted, “I am happy to have joined the National Day celebrations and that too during the time when Seychelles marks 50 years of Independence.”
During his address to the national assembly of the archipelagic nation, Modi called for global action on climate change guided by fairness, responsibility and equity. He was also conferred with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ for his leadership on environmental sustainability and efforts to advance the interests of developing countries.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X, “The State Visit of PM marked a significant milestone in India-Seychelles ties, reinforcing the shared commitment of deepening cooperation across sectors and advancing a common vision for a safe and prosperous Indian Ocean region.” The visit ended with both sides unveiling 19 outcomes and underlining a broader agenda for stronger ties in the years ahead.
