Preparing for a competitive examination can be expensive, particularly when students have to pay for coaching, study material and academic guidance. The Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana is a Government of Uttar Pradesh initiative aimed at making such preparation more accessible by providing free coaching and guidance to students across the state.
Launched in February 2021, the scheme initially operated through coaching centres at divisional headquarters. Online classes were also introduced to extend access to students beyond these centres.

The programme covers preparation for several major competitive examinations, including the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), JEE (Main), NEET, NDA and CDS, among others.
WHAT DOES ABHYUDAYA YOJANA OFFER?
The scheme provides students with access to classroom and online coaching for competitive examinations.
Teaching and mentoring are provided by subject experts and experienced government officers. The objective is to give students structured academic support and guidance as they prepare for examinations that can otherwise require substantial investment in private coaching.
The programme therefore combines regular classes with expert guidance, allowing students to access preparation support without paying coaching fees.
COVERAGE ACROSS UTTAR PRADESH
According to the official Abhyudaya portal, the scheme is currently being implemented across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The portal reports that around 2,000 teachers and subject experts are involved in providing guidance to students.
It also reports that more than 400 students have finally been selected for various posts through examinations covered by the programme. These include 23 students selected through UPSC 2023, 30 through UPPSC 2023 and 35 through JEE Main 2024.
WHAT EXAMINATIONS ARE COVERED?
The scheme supports preparation for a range of competitive examinations, including:
- UPSC
- UPPSC
- JEE (Main)
- NEET
- NDA
- CDS
The availability of coaching across these examinations allows students preparing for both civil services and professional or defence entrance examinations to access the programme.
2026–27 SESSION
The 2026–27 session began on July 1, 2026.
According to the information provided on the Abhyudaya portal, lecture plans and timetables are available for students preparing for Civil Services, JEE (Main), NEET and NDA/CDS examinations.
This gives students a structured schedule for their preparation and access to classes through the programme.
HOW CAN STUDENTS REGISTER?
Students can register through the official Abhyudaya portal.
During registration, students are required to provide details such as their educational qualification, district and preferred course. This allows them to indicate the examination for which they want to prepare and access the relevant coaching programme.
MAKING COMPETITIVE EXAM PREPARATION MORE ACCESSIBLE
Competitive examinations often require sustained preparation and access to specialised academic guidance. The Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana is designed to address part of that requirement by providing coaching and mentoring without a coaching fee.
For students across Uttar Pradesh, particularly those who may not have access to private coaching, the programme provides a state-supported route to structured preparation for major competitive examinations.
At its core, the scheme is about making coaching, academic guidance and exam preparation available free of cost to students across Uttar Pradesh.
