In a major breakthrough in the murder of Narela property dealer Pramod Dahiya, Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two alleged shooters linked to the Himanshu Bhau gang after an encounter in Rohini Sector 24. A juvenile accomplice was also detained from the spot.

According to police, the Rohini Special Staff received specific intelligence that three gang members involved in the killing would arrive on a motorcycle in Sector 24. A team laid a trap and attempted to intercept them. When the suspects were asked to surrender, they opened fire on the police party. Police retaliated, injuring two of the accused in the legs before taking them into custody. The third accused, a minor, was apprehended at the scene. No police personnel were injured in the exchange of fire.

Investigators said all three are shooters associated with the gang of fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau, who is believed to be operating from abroad. The trio is suspected to have played a role in the murder of Pramod Dahiya, a property dealer who was gunned down outside a gym in Narela’s Bankner village on September 3.

Dahiya was attacked at around 7 am while heading to a fitness centre. Police said three motorcycle-borne assailants fired multiple rounds at him, killing him on the spot. The killing triggered widespread outrage, with family members refusing to accept the body until the accused were arrested. Delhi Police had formed multiple teams and carried out raids in Delhi and Haryana to trace the shooters.

Investigators had been probing an extortion angle in the case. Police sources said Dahiya and his associates had allegedly received extortion threats in the past from criminals linked to the Himanshu Bhau network. Shortly after the murder, a social media post purportedly issued in the name of the gang claimed responsibility for the killing.

Police said Dahiya had been travelling in a bulletproof vehicle due to security concerns and also possessed a licensed firearm. However, the attackers allegedly conducted detailed reconnaissance of his movements before carrying out the attack outside the gym.

The two injured accused are undergoing treatment under police custody, while the juvenile is being processed under the Juvenile Justice Act. Further investigation is underway to establish the full conspiracy behind the murder and identify other gang members involved.
