A young boy was rushed to hospital after being struck by a marked police car on Sydney’s north shore.
About 7.20pm on Monday, a senior police constable was on the way to the scene of a fire when his vehicle struck a child.
A nine-year-old boy was treated at the scene, first by police officers and then paramedics.
Following initial first aid, the youngster was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, where he remains in a stable condition.
The incident happened on the Pacific Highway in St Leonards, close to Christie St, the scene of the fire.
The driver of the car, a male senior constable, was breathalysed at the scene and returned a negative result.
Police said on Tuesday they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
