Shivon Zilis, the tech executive and mother of four of Elon Musk’s children, said the billionaire abruptly ended their relationship “with no warning”, revealing the split in a lengthy post on X along with screenshots of their recent text exchanges.
“It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes,” Zilis wrote on Friday, October 2.

Zilis, the Indian-origin, Canada-born executive, said she was hurt by the breakup but continued to care deeply about Musk and hoped they could remain friends and co-parents.
“I’m hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness. God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you,” she wrote.
ZILIS CALLS HOME A ‘SAFE SPACE’ FOR MUSK
In her post, Zilis described the role she and their children played in Musk’s life, saying their home was a place where he could find calm and support away from the pressures surrounding his work and public life.
“We were always his safe space,” she wrote. “A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence.”
Zilis said she had wanted Musk to experience what it felt like to be “deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness”.
“Given the tumultuous nature of his early life, his often tortured soul, and how hard he fights for humanity I wanted him to feel the deepest and most stable form of love this world can provide,” she wrote.
She said she valued being a source of stability for Musk and helping him when he was struggling.
“I loved being that counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love — and delighted in bringing a smile back to his face when he was down. I will miss him dearly,” Zilis wrote.
COUPLE HAVE FOUR CHILDREN
Zilis and Musk have four children together. They welcomed twins Strider and Azure in 2021, followed by daughter Arcadia in 2024 and their youngest son, Seldon, whose birth was announced in early 2025.
“I’ve loved him more than life itself and he’s taught me 100 lifetimes of knowledge and made my cup overflow with life meaning, so there is a lot of loss,” Zilis wrote.
She said she was nevertheless grateful for their children.
“Luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life. I am so beyond grateful for our children and they make every single day the best day of my life!” she wrote.
Zilis also said she hoped she and Musk could maintain a good relationship for the sake of their children.
“I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents,” she wrote.
ZILIS SHARES RECENT TEXT EXCHANGE
Alongside her post, Zilis shared a screenshot of a recent text conversation with Musk.
In the exchange, Zilis told Musk: “It was really wonderful to see you for breakfast. Love you very much.”
Musk replied on September 24: “Love you too.”
He then told her that he had not realised he could have invited her to a White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“Aw,” Zilis replied. “That means so much to me. Thank you.”
She also responded to the message with a heart emoji.
The messages were exchanged just days before Zilis announced the end of their relationship.
On September 27, Zilis had posted a brief message on X that read: “New day, new life.” She did not provide any context for the post at the time.
Musk has not publicly responded to Zilis’ announcement.
Zilis ended her post by saying she remained grateful for their relationship and would continue to support Musk.
“My heart is full knowing I got to do that, and I hope it leaves a lasting good effect,” she wrote.
