Three men have been arrested for allegedly harassing a woman from Nagaland and attempting to forcibly pull her into a Mercedes car at a five-star hotel in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area, police said on Tuesday. When her friends intervened, the accused allegedly attacked them with hockey sticks and iron rods before fleeing the spot, news agency PTI reported.

The incident took place around 3.30 am on Sunday in the hotel’s parking area.

According to the complaint, the woman had gone to the hotel with a friend. While the two were returning from the washroom, the three accused, travelling in a white Mercedes, allegedly approached them and tried to stop the woman and force her into their vehicle.

Her friends, identified as Ayush, Udbhav and Samarth, intervened after noticing the accused’s objectionable actions.

Police said the accused assaulted the three men with hockey sticks and iron rods. Ayush sustained injuries to his teeth, while Udbhav and Samarth were also beaten.

Police reached the location soon after, following which the accused were said to have escaped in their car. The complainant had noted down the vehicle’s registration number, which helped investigators identify the three men as Divyanshu, Gaurav and Mohit.

A case was subsequently registered against the accused at Chanakyapuri police station. The woman was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a medical examination, and police said the case was registered based on her complaint and the medical report.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the hotel and collecting other evidence to establish the sequence of events.

Medical reports of those involved are also being assessed to determine the nature and extent of the injuries.

During questioning, the accused have denied some of the allegations, police said.

Investigators are now examining the available evidence, including CCTV footage, medical findings and the statements of those involved, before taking further action in the case.
