A shipment of Nvidia’s most powerful consumer graphics cards has reportedly gone missing in Brazil, leaving an electronics distributor searching for answers. Odero, a Brazilian electronics and IT distributor, says two pallets of Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs worth around $470,000 (around Rs 4,45,62,368) were expected to arrive at Guarulhos International Airport in So Paulo. The shipment reportedly reached the airport but then disappeared.

The company has taken to Instagram to seek answers, saying it has never faced anything like this in its 38-year history. According to its post, Odero has not received an official response to its inquiries about the shipment. However, the company has not shared the shipment’s arrival date or tracking details, and it remains unclear exactly how many graphics cards are missing. There is also no confirmation of what happened to the shipment.
The incident comes at a time when the RTX 5090 is already difficult to find due to the global DRAM and Memory Bottleneck.
Who uses these graphics cards?
The RTX 5090 is Nvidia’s flagship consumer graphics card, designed for people who want top-end performance from their computers. Gamers are among its main buyers, particularly those who want to play demanding games at high resolutions, such as 4K/8K, and with advanced graphics settings.
But gaming is only part of the story. The card’s powerful processing capabilities also make it useful for video editors, 3D artists, animators and other creative professionals working with demanding software. It can also run certain AI models locally, making it attractive to developers and researchers who want to experiment with AI on their own computers.
The RTX 5090 launched with a US starting price of $1,999 (approximately Rs 189,925), although prices can rise sharply when supplies are limited. Nvidia announced the GeForce RTX 5090 in January 2025 as part of its RTX 50 series, based on the company’s Blackwell architecture. It went on sale later that month, bringing upgrades aimed at improving gaming performance and AI-powered graphics features.
One of its headline features is DLSS 4, Nvidia’s AI-powered technology that can generate additional frames in supported games to make gameplay look smoother. The RTX 5090 also packs 32GB of GDDR7 memory, making it suitable for workloads that need substantial graphics memory.
Its high price and limited availability have made the card a tempting target for scams and theft. GPU buyers have reported delivery problems, while some sellers have faced returns in which valuable components were allegedly removed from graphics cards. High-value graphics hardware shipments have also been targeted in separate incidents.
However, those cases do not establish what happened to Odero’s shipment. For now, the distributor is still seeking answers, and the whereabouts of the two pallets remain unclear.
