Wild new CCTV footage from inside a Brisbane bus has revealed the moment a Toyota Yaris flew through the air and smashed into its window.
The terrifying incident occurred about 6.30pm on July 29 after a blue Toyota Yaris drove through an intersection of Beaudesert Rd and Granard Rd in Archerfield.
Barrelling down the road, the car hit the kerb and flew into the air, smashing into the bus’s window.
The car was wedged deep inside the bus, with its front wheels perched on top of a row of empty seats.
The handrails were lodged on the front windscreen of the car, crushing seats underneath its chassis.
New footage from inside the bus revealed the shocking moment the blue car became lodged inside the bus.
The impact was so great it caused the bus to rock sideways before restabilising.
Footage shows the driver in the front seat as the vehicle rocks from side to side.
Only the driver and his wife, who quickly exited via the bus’s front door with her handbag, were inside the bus at the time of the incident.
“Oh f**k, oh f**k!” a voice said from inside the vehicle.
The bus driver then urged his wife to “get out of the bus quickly” before following behind.
He then rushed to the driver of the Yaris, a 45-year-old woman, who became trapped in the incident.
“You right, are you OK?” he asked the woman before helping her from the vehicle.
No one was injured in the incident, police said, with the driver of the Yaris taken to hospital for shock.
Police have since charged a separate driver – a 66-year-old Durack man behind the wheel of a black SsangYong car – for driving without due care and attention.
They allege he attempted to merge from a centre lane and turned off near the intersection of Beaudesert Rd and Granard Rd.
The driver of the Yaris was in the outer lane at the time, allegedly swerving to avoid the SsangYong before losing control of the car and smashing into the bus.
