An OnlyFans star has weighed in on Sydney Sweeney’s racy Novig ad, saying the actress “knows how to grab attention”, but questioned whether using sex appeal to promote gambling crossed a line.
US-based adult content creator Skylar Mae, who earns more than $1 million a month on the platform, said Sweeney and her team nailed the campaign in terms of grabbing attention and called the Euphoria star the “2020s Pamela Anderson”.
Last week, Sweeney starred in her raunchiest ad campaign yet, sitting on top of a basketball hoop naked to promote the American betting company, of which she is a shareholder.
The one-minute video sees the 29-year-old posing seductively using various sports equipment to cover her breasts and crotch while promising app users that “Novig is just sports” and does not cover politics, wars or world events.
“Sydney Sweeney knows exactly what she’s doing. She is the 2020s Pamela Anderson,” Skylar said.
“She and her team know exactly what they’re doing, and they are absolutely crushing it. She looked incredible.
“Men love women and they love sports, so you can’t really go wrong combining the two. Then you add sports betting and it’s basically three of men’s favourite things in one ad.
“Whoever is paying Sydney to do this is absolutely going to be bankrolling off it.”
However, the 23-year-old questioned whether using a woman’s sexuality to encourage people to participate in gambling crossed a line.
“The part I don’t agree with is using women and sex appeal to entice men to gamble, because so many people have gambling problems,” she said.
“If it was just a sexy sports campaign, I’d 100 per cent approve. The marketing is genius, I just question what they’re using it to promote.”

Skylar also said the ad comes as mainstream brands are increasingly using strategies adult creators have understood for years.
“Adult creators are marketing experts. Look at the revenue OnlyFans brings in every year, or what some of the biggest creators are making,” she said.
“Clearly, sex appeal is what people want to see.
“We know how to grab people’s attention and, more importantly, turn that attention into revenue.”
Skylar entered the adult industry in college to help support her parents, who she pays $20k a month.
She now earns more than $1 million a month on OnlyFans and spends her spare time studying stocks and day trading.
Her praise for Sweeney comes after female athletes from Australia and around the globe criticised her for sexualising women in sports.
Retired Australian swimming champion Ariarne Titmus said she “can’t describe how infuriated” she felt when watching the ad.
“Not only is it a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft but every woman who enjoys sports for what it really is – teamwork, friendship, dedication, excellence, unity … the list goes on,” she said on Instagram.
“To take the mickey like this. I thought we were genuinely moving past this bulls..t,” she wrote.
“What is this teaching the young men and women of today?
“Sydney Sweeney, do better.”
Perth’s Olympic champion swimmer Brianna Throssell joined in on the conversation by sharing an Instagram video of her training and competing in races with overlaying text reading: “Respectfully Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sports looks like”.
