Orry has never really been one to keep his opinions to himself. Whether it is a reality-show controversy, a celebrity feud or something that catches his attention on social media, he has built quite the reputation for saying exactly what he thinks, often without much of a filter. So when he came out in support of his Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 co-contestant Gaurav Khanna amid the controversy surrounding the actor and his estranged wife, Akanksha Chamola, it naturally got people talking. Speaking exclusively to India Today, he explained why he felt the need to take a stand for his friend and why, according to him, Gaurav was never going to defend himself.

“I love GK. We were in the van together. He was probably one of the first people who started talking to me,” Orry said, explaining that the two had spent considerable time together during the Cape Town shoot, which led him to develop a bond with Gaurav. He said his decision to defend him publicly was largely because he knows the actor’s personality. According to him, Gaurav is unlikely to get into a public fight or hit back at someone, even when he believes he has been wronged.
“I did take a stand for him. Because I know GK. He’s a gentleman. He’s not going to take a stand for himself. He’s the type of person who will let the other person say whatever they’re saying. He’ll be respectable, and too polished. But I am not polished or a gentleman. So if you try to f@#k with my friend, I am going to do the same with you,” he said.
Gaurav’s personal life came under public scrutiny after his estranged wife, Akanksha Chamola, spoke about their separation on Lock Upp. Her comments about wanting to meet her pets over Gaurav on the show further led to outrage on social media. Orry had commented on one such post, heaping praise on the Bigg Boss 19 winner while also calling out Akanksha for her words.
“I will defend my friend because I know he’s not going to defend himself. I know he wouldn’t do that. And therefore, I had to get involved; I just had to. Someone had to say something; otherwise, this girl is just saying anything,” he added.
Orry also weighed in on the controversy in which another co-participant, Shagun Sharma, accused Gaurav Khanna of bullying her. Orry said he actually understood where Gaurav was coming from when he pushed Shagun to perform the stunts. In fact, he was so convinced by Gaurav’s reasoning that he found himself wanting to perform the stunt himself.
The content creator said, “When Shagun said he was bullying her, the things he was saying to her, I was getting inspired by that. When he was like, ‘Shagun, do the stunt,’ and the reasoning he was giving her to do the stunt, I was like, I should do the stunt. He rightly told her that we are in a stunt show, so why wouldn’t you do one? Do your stunts, take the screen time. That’s what we were there for: to perform and be seen. So you have to push yourself. You cannot take this as a vacation.”
That interaction, however, was perceived very differently by Shagun, who had described Gaurav’s behaviour as bullying. Orry admitted that seeing her get emotional during the confrontation was something he struggled with.
“When he was saying all of this to her, she was crying and screaming. And you know, the thing is, I don’t like people who start crying and screaming. Because you can’t tell them anything. Anything you tell them, they start crying. I can’t handle that kind of attitude. Today, we are close, and now I can call her out, and so can she. But it was not bullying at all,” he concluded.
