A paranormal investigator has claimed there’s something much “freakier” out there than “traditional ghosts”.
Colin Browen – who hosts the Murder In America podcast and The Paranormal Files on YouTube – has spent 11 years looking into potential hauntings and he’s revealed his “perspective has changed” and he’s much more frightened by the “non-human” entities lurking in the dark.
During an appearance on ARC Maine, he explained: “Through my travels and my investigations, my perspective has changed. I don’t believe as much in the traditional ghost necessarily but I do believe in a lot of different things now.
“When I first went into this journey I didn’t believe there was anything inhuman or non-human out there but after having had a handful of very powerful, very frightening experiences I know believe that there are …
“There are ghosts but then there are other things out there that, to me, are a little bit freakier.”
Colin did not shed any more light on the mysterious entities but he has previously admitted that not all hauntings are scary and there are plenty of “happy, jovial spirits” who just want to have a bit of a “laugh”.
He told the US Mirror: “I’ve investigated dozens of homes and places that were filled with happy, jovial spirits – in fact, one night, we spent the entire night telling jokes to the spirits and watched as they played with our devices and seemingly laughed along with us.”
Colin blames Hollywood horror movies and documentaries for the negative perception of hauntings, adding: “In horror movies and documentaries about the paranormal world, usually hauntings are portrayed as intense, frightening and disturbing; however, in real life, it’s never black and white.
“Although it’s possible you may run into something more on the negative side, and you may not be dealing with Casper, most of the time, the spirits we encounter and interact with seem to be lost souls, in a way – not angry, demonic beings intent on raising hell – simply energies and spiritual entities that we don’t really understand.”
Colin went on to insist most ghosts aren’t interested in hurting humans and often they just want acknowledgement or help.
He added: “[Often they want] be acknowledged … [or] helped with a task or given some form of respect.”
