A critically injured man was dumped at a Perth emergency department on Friday night following a brutal stabbing in the CBD.

Detectives are investigating the vicious attack after a man in his 30s was stabbed in the back outside a café near Brookfield Place on St Georges Terrace about 11.15pm.

It is believed a group of men known to each other were involved in a fight when the stabbing occurred.

The victim arrived at Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries at 11.50pm after he was taken to the hospital in a white Toyota Corolla hatchback.

Police say two men helped him into the emergency department before immediately fleeing the hospital.

“The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery at Royal Perth Hospital,” police said.

“He is now in a serious but stable condition in the State Trauma Unit.”

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance and urge anyone who witnessed the stabbing to contact Crime Stoppers.

They are particularly interested in anyone who saw the white hatchback or who has CCTV or dash-cam footage of the St Georges Terrace area between 11pm Friday and 12am Saturday.

Reports to Crime Stoppers can be made anonymously online or by calling 1800 333 000.
