One Perth-based Jason Derulo fan has impressed a 15,000-strong crowd, and the star himself, after being invited on stage to perform choreography during Wednesday night’s RAC Arena show.
Jessica O’Meara was pulled from the audience to join the performer, declaring her long-time interest in his music along before flaunting her enviable dance moves.
The hip-hop artist is touring his Australian leg of The Last Dance Tour, next playing in Adelaide on Friday night.
Derulo is best known hits like Talk Dirty, Wiggle, and Savage Love, but has made a recent habit of welcoming confident fans to perform choreography beside him to his newer track Mi Chico.
“You do know the Mi Chico dance?” Derulo asked Ms O’Meara, who confirmed she was very familiar.
Derulo then pushed the fan to reveal if she had been to any of his previous shows.
“I have, it was my first concert ever in 2014!” she beamed.
The beat then dropped, with the back up dancers, Derulo and Ms O’Meara quickly finding their groove.
As it became apparent how naturally she moved on stage and mirrored the star, the crowd’s cheering became more intense, before the enthusiastic fan flipped backwards to display her flexibility.
The vision was shared on RAC Arena’s socials for fans to relive the moment.
“Perth fan Jess dances to Mi Chico (and absolutely kills it),” the caption read.
Ms O’Meara revealed to PerthNow that she grew up dancing in Sydney, and moved to Perth more than two years ago.
She admitted the performance alongside her idol was not her first at the venue.
“It was such a surreal experience!” she said.
“I was actually a cheerleader for the Perth Wildcats last season, so it felt crazy being back in RAC and then getting to perform on stage with Jason Derulo and his dancers.”
Ms O’Meara works as a full time occupational therapist but said she was thrilled to reignite her passion for dancing and was “still on cloud nine”.
“He was the first concert I ever went to in 2014 so being able to watch him perform again and then getting to be on stage with him is such a full circle moment,” she added.
Ms O’Meara is also a dedicated athlete outside work hours, sharing her fitness journey online as she trains for triathlons, an Ironwoman, and marathons.
Derulo had earlier played shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
