A sleep-deprived Perth mum has revealed the ultimate post-partum “baby-brain” blunder after accidentally tattooing her daughter’s name incorrectly on her arm.
Katie Benjamin was left stunned after noticing the fresh tattoo she had just sat through spelt daughter Airlie’s name as “Arilie”.
“Guys, I just got my tattoos done and I’ve just realised I spelled Airlie’s name wrong,” she said in a viral social media video.
“I have my daughter’s name tattooed on me and I spelled it wrong.
“How did I not check the spelling before she did it?”
The video, posted on TikTok on Tuesday, shows the mum staring at the new ink in disbelief before reassuring followers that it was fixable.
“It’s an easy fix though,” she said.
Katie, who posts online under the handle @givingmumvibes, later revealed the mistake originated on the stencil after the tattoo artist misspelled Airlie’s name before starting work.
But in a classic case of new-parent exhaustion, neither the artist nor Katie picked up the error.
“I picked out the font and size all without noticing the mistake, and even watched her tattoo it on, and I didn’t notice,” she said.
Katie recently welcomed her second child, son Reef, in April and admitted juggling a newborn and toddler while running on little sleep may have contributed to the oversight.
“My brain definitely wasn’t operating at 100 per cent, so I didn’t pick up the mistake until after it was tattooed,” she said.
Fortunately, the script-style font allowed the error to be corrected and Katie returned to the studio the following day to have the tattoo fixed.
The video has attracted thousands of views and prompted a flood of comments from parents sharing their own sleep-deprived blunders.

Another joked the easiest solution would be to simply change the child’s name, while others said the tattoo mishap was the most relatable example of “baby brain” they had ever seen.
