Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan continued his ‘Sunday Darshan’ ritual on November 8, meeting fans gathered outside his Mumbai bungalow, Jalsa. The 84-year-old actor also wished his admirers a happy Diwali. Interestingly, Bachchan did not use the bulletproof glass that had been placed around him during his previous Sunday appearance.

His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, and film producer Bunty Walia were also present overseeing the security arrangements as the veteran star greeted his fans. This was Bachchan’s second ‘Sunday Darshan’ since a threatening letter sent to the Mumbai Mayor mentioned his name alongside those of several other celebrities in the city.

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant commented on Bachchan’s decision to do away with the bulletproof glass during Sunday’s appearance. Speaking to the media, he said, “Whether bullet-proof glass is removed as it shows the government in bad light or threat is over, this is something only Amitabh Ji can answer. But Bollywood celebrities are living under fear of criminals inside Sabarmati jail,” referring to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Members of Bishnoi’s gang recently claimed responsibility for a firing attack on actor Tiger Shroff.

Big B shares health update

Earlier in the day, Bachchan also shared an update about his health through his personal blog. The actor has not been shooting for his television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati for the past few days. Addressing the same, he apologised for the delay in acknowledging the overwhelming number of greetings and gifts he continues to receive from well-wishers.

The veteran actor wrote, “I have been receiving greetings and gifts from so many well-wishers, and in such abundance that I am now running out of space to keep them. Not storing these gifts properly would amount to disrespecting them. Therefore, to all of you who have been sending gifts as expressions of your affection, I wish to convey my appreciation and acknowledgement. I am also making an effort to respond to each of you personally through letters (sic).”

Explaining why his responses had been delayed, Bachchan revealed that he had been experiencing physical discomfort in his writing hand, making it difficult for him to personally reply to the messages.

He wrote, “I had wanted to write these replies myself. However, I have been experiencing some discomfort in the hand I use for writing, which has caused a delay. I sincerely apologise (sic).”

The actor also reflected on the repeated apologies in his recent communications, touching upon the importance of forgiveness and understanding. He observed that while one can only seek forgiveness and hope for compassion, the decision to hold on to resentment or make peace with a situation ultimately rests with the individual.
