Wild scenes have captured the extent of a massive brawl on the Gold Coast, with police forced to deploy a taser to stop the rampage.
The violence erupted about 2am on Sunday along Orchard Ave in Surfers Paradise, 7News reports.
Footage uploaded to social media captures one group brawling on the road before officers and security intervene, dragging one man to the ground.
Another man who was part of the original fracas can be seen splintering off, before fists fly with another group on the sidewalk.
The person filming the encounter can be heard saying “Mondays, am I right?” as authorities intervene in the second fight.
A taser is then heard being deployed.
Police then swarm around the second man and drag him away.
7News reports an Aratula man, 43, was fined $1000 for public nuisance.
Another Aratula man, 18, and a McKimba man, 19, were issued ban notices from the Safe Night Precinct – encompassing most of the Surfers Paradise CBD.
In an update on Monday, Chief Superintendent Kylie Rigg from Queensland Police said officers used force they believed was reasonable to stop the violence.
“Those officers are highly trained to make decisions in split-second moments where issues and assaults are potentially escalating,” she said, according to 7News.
