Police are hunting for the driver of an orange ute after a 12-year-old schoolboy was seriously injured in an alleged hit-and-run.

Emergency services rushed to Milperra Rd in Revesby, in Sydney’s southwest, following reports a boy had been hit by a car in the westbound lanes between Edgar St and Mons Rd about 3.20pm on Monday

Paramedics treated the boy at the boy at the scene and took him to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Witnesses told police the rear passenger side of an orange-gold coloured Nissan Navara with a hardtop canopy, silver bullbar and black wheel hubs struck the boy then fled the scene.

Police are urging the driver to come forward.

“It is believed that the driver may have been unaware of the incident,” a police spokesman said.
