A Qantas plane carrying 74 passengers had an “unsettling” flight to Dubbo after a bomb threat was made.
Police confirmed a major investigation was underway at Dubbo Regional Airport after a threatening call was made about the flight.
A spokesman said the airport was evacuated and police remained on the scene to monitor the situation.
“There is no immediate risk to public safety,” a spokesman said.
Dubbo Regional Council mayor Josh Black said they were notified of a bomb threat on a plane destined for the regional town, about 400km northwest of Sydney, on Monday morning.
“The plane has landed safely and all 74 passengers and crew have disembarked,” he said.
“Further investigations are underway by relevant emergency services.”
A Qantas spokesman said there was a security incident on Monday morning at Dubbo Airport that was investigated.
“Flights have now resumed,” a spokesman said.
“We recognise this would have been unsettling and disruptive for customers and we thank them for following the instructions of our crew and the local authorities.
“Safety is always our first priority.”
