Police swoop on men accused of grooming children online

Detectives have swooped on a man who allegedly attempted to meet with a female child for sexual intercourse after grooming her online.

The 69-year old man was arrested in Campbelltown in Sydney’s outer southwest on Monday after travelling from Port Kembla.

Another 66-year old man was arrested in Beaumont Hills in northwest Sydney on Tuesday for allegedly grooming a girl under 16 for sexual intercourse and sharing child abuse material.

The arrests were made under the ongoing Strike Force Trawler, which includes detectives going undercover online to catch child predators and groomers.

The 69 year-old was charged with incite to commit sexual intercourse with a child under 10, use carriage service-groom younger than 16 procure for sender, fail to comply with reporting obligations and contravene prohibition order.

He faced Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday where he was refused bail and is due to reappear at the same court on November 11.

The 66-year-old was refused bail and was due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

He was charged with use carriage service-groom younger than 16 procure for sender and use carriage service make available child abuse.
