A man has been charged after he allegedly set fire to a vehicle before walking the streets of Sydney’s Inner West openly carrying a firearm.
At about 10.20am on Friday, a car park in Dulwich Hill became swarmed by police after they were told a man carrying a gun had set fire to an allegedly stolen vehicle.
According to police, the man left the area on foot and was last seen on Union Street
Fire and Rescue NSW teams arrived to extinguish the car, and no injuries were reported. Police then locked down the area, and began a manhunt across Sydney’s Inner West to track the alleged offender down.

At about 11.30pm on Sunday night, police arrested a 32-year-old man on Burwood Road in Burwood after he allegedly “attempted to evade police”.

The man has been charged with possession of a shortened firearm, acquiring a prohibited firearm, armed robbery, possession of a housebreaking implement, destroying property, vehicle theft, and driving a car while disqualified.
He was refused bail to appear in a local court on Monday.
