Actor Ameesha Patel has reacted to a fan comparing Preity Zinta’s character in Batwara 1947 with her iconic role of Sakina from Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. During a recent #AskAmy session on X, a fan praised Ameesha’s portrayal while suggesting that Preity was trying to recreate the magic of her character.

The fan wrote, “Have you watched the Batwara trailer? It feels like Preity Zinta is trying very hard to copy your iconic Sakina. But some characters are simply unforgettable. And no one can recreate the magic you and Sunny sir gave us in Gadar (sic).”

Responding to the comparison, the 51-year-old actor graciously wished Preity. She wrote, “Woh bhi bahut Khoobsurat hai bhai (Referring to Preity: she is also beautiful). Sakina wishes her the best. Tara ka dhyaan rakhna (Take care of Tara) till he’s not back to where he belongs (sic).”

Ameesha starred opposite Sunny Deol in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and its 2023 sequel Gadar 2. The first film, set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, featured Ameesha as Sakina and Sunny as Tara Singh.

Sunny, meanwhile, is now set to explore the Partition era once again with Batwara 1947. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur and Khali. Ali Fazal has a special appearance in the film.

In the same session, Ameesha made a candid confession about her wedding plans.

One fan asked her, “When r u getting married? (sic)”

The actor’s reply was short and straightforward. She wrote, “Never. Superrr happy being single. I have 100 close family and friends who love me. Can’t afford one man to come and change all that (sic).”

Meanwhile, Batwara 1947 is slated to release in theatres on August 14, 2026, ahead of the Independence Day weekend.
