High drama unfolded in Delhi on Sunday as an AAP protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar escalated, with protesters breaking barricades, blocking buses carrying detainees and moving towards Jantar Mantar.
AAP workers and members of the party’s student wing, ASAP, were seen protesting against Kumar at India Gate, prompting a heavy deployment of Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel to control the situation.

Videos and visuals from the protest showed AAP workers blocking buses in which detainees were being kept, as security personnel attempted to manage the crowd.
The situation escalated when protesters managed to break through barricades and move towards Jantar Mantar.
Delhi Police and the Rapid Action Force were deployed as the protesters pushed through the barricades.
The heavy security presence was aimed at preventing the protesters from advancing further and maintaining control of the situation.
Amid the escalating protest, women protesters were seen climbing on top of a vehicle.
The scenes added to the tension as police and RAF personnel moved in to contain the protesters.
AAP workers were also seen blocking buses carrying people who had been detained during the protest.
Security personnel were deployed around the buses as protesters attempted to prevent them from moving.
The protest by AAP and ASAP against CEC Gyanesh Kumar comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the Election Commission.
