Selections based on a soft track
Race 1
3. Buongiorno had trialled well on a couple of occasions before making his debut with a solid third at Hawkesbury just over two weeks ago. He steps straight up in distance for this and with the benefit of natural improvement he can break through. 4. Grunge showed improvement when a last start second at this track and a repeat of that would have him in the thick of things again. 2. Balmain Warrior was first-up from a spell when only beaten two lengths into fifth at Kembla Grange earlier this month and can run a good race based on that performance. 6. Ocean Empire made his debut at this track two weeks ago and finished fourth. He can lift on that effort and has place claims in this.

Race 2
2. Definition had trialled well before leading and failing to fire on debut at Kembla Grange. He’s since trialled again at Rosehill and performed well in that when finishing second. Expect a form reversal in this. 1. Alabama Showdown was placed in one of his two starts at Kembla Grange earlier this year and resumes here after two trials. 3. Lucand Magic has won his two latest trials and looks set to run well on debut. 4. Union has been placed in both runs since resuming from a spell and a forward showing is on the cards.

Race 3
3. I’m Ya Huckleberry debuted with a second in the Breeders’ Plate at Randwick last spring. He resumes here after two recent trial wins and despite having an outside gate to contend with should be opening his winning account. 6. Threads has shown ability in a four-start career and looms as a danger. 7. Beautiful You was placed here on debut and warrants some thought. 10. Sequoia is on debut and bears close watching after recent trials.

Race 4
1. Eterlou is on debut and has been fitted for this with a number of barrier trials. He won the latest of them at Warwick Farm and has gate one here. 5. The Thorncaster is resuming and was placed at Eagle Farm back in April. He’s had two trials to be readied for this return to racing. 9. Movie Star wasn’t beaten far when third at this track on debut and she is worth plenty of thought again. 7. Zynaro is first-up and has had two solid trials to prepare for his return to racing.

Race 5
6. Laconic Livo had one start on the Kensington track at Randwick back in April when failing to beat a runner home. He was spelled following that event and has had two trials in preparation for this return to racing, winning the latest at Warwick Farm. 5. Golden Princess was midfield on debut at this track back in April and resumes here after a recent trial. 4. Lieutenant Tambo is on debut but has had plenty of trials in preparation and can show up without surprising. 2. Harvey’s Turn has been placed in three of four starts and isn’t out of this.

Race 6
6. Alamagan has finished fourth at Kembla Grange and Moruya either side of a third at Moruya. He’s been kept up to the mark for this with a recent Nowra trial win and looks set to run well. 8. Ouragan is a consistent mare that can run well on the strength of her recent form. 7. Smiling Prophet ran second here two starts ago and shouldn’t be taken lightly. 5. Serinda was a Gosford winner before not being disgraced at Canterbury last time out.
How to play it: Alamagan WIN.
Race 7
1. Maluku had two starts in March and April for a win and this track and then another victory at Gosford. She’s had two trials in preparation for this return to racing and has the talent to return in winning form. 3. Borderfall resumed at this track two weeks ago with a dominant win as favourite and can go on with the job. 12. Zunesha ran second in her first two starts before scoring impressively at Hawkesbury when last produced. 14. The Biv is first-up and is a recent trial winner.
How to play it: Maluku WIN.
Race 8
1. Iceford is an import that had a run at Kembla Grange in March when finishing fifth and was then spelled. He resumed with a second at the same track earlier this month in what was a good effort, and he should have come on from that run. He can break through against these. 3. Don’s Party was a winner at this track when resuming from a spell and he followed that up with a close second at Hawkesbury. He should et every chance here from a good gate. 2. Crown The King was down the track at Warwick Farm last time out behind subsequent Saturday winner Mr Miller. This is an easier assignment. 4. Ribble Lace has been placed in both runs back from a spell and can get into the money again.
