Batwara 1947 director Rajkumar Santoshi has dismissed reports of a fallout between Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol. The clarification came amid the recent buzz around an alleged ‘OTT war’ between the two actors.
Reports claimed that Aamir, who is backing Sunny-starrer Batwara 1947, had rejected an OTT deal worth around Rs 60 crore. The decision reportedly did not go down well with Sunny, sparking speculation of tension between the two. With both stars having a long history of being pitted against each other, the reports quickly snowballed into talk of a fresh Aamir-Sunny rivalry.

Santoshi, however, has rubbished the speculation and questioned why every disagreement involving celebrities is being turned into a full-blown controversy.
In an exclusive chat with India Today, the director shook his head on being asked about the alleged rift. He said, “I will tell you what the problem is. Every person who has a phone has become a critic, has become a journalist today. Every man, any man, he can judge the film, he can judge a person, he can give his opinions, he has a viewpoint.”
The filmmaker was categorical that there is no bad blood between the two stars. “All well between them. All well. They are very mature people. Aamir Khan is a very big achiever. Sunny is an achiever. Why will they talk on these petty things?” he said.
Rajkumar Santoshi was speaking at a press conference which was attended by multiple religious leaders. Having watched the film, they also spoke about the message of peace and brotherhood the film promotes, and even requested it to become tax-free.
During our chat, Santoshi also addressed the much-anticipated possibility of Ghatak 2. While he remained tight-lipped about whether the sequel is actually happening, he revealed that another action film with Sunny is already in the works.
“Too early to talk about it. But we are making an action film with Sunny. It’s going to be a very good action film,” he smiled to share.
Batwara 1947 released on August 14, and also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol, among others.
