The Uttar Pradesh government has announced free bus travel for women across the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Under the special arrangement, women passengers will be able to travel free of cost along with one companion on Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses.
The facility will be available from 6 am on August 27 until midnight on August 29, according to the announcement by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.

WOMEN AND ONE COMPANION CAN TRAVEL FREE
As part of the Raksha Bandhan arrangement, women passengers travelling in UPSRTC buses will be eligible for free travel. The facility will also extend to one companion accompanying each woman passenger.
The initiative is aimed at making travel easier for women returning home or travelling to meet their families during the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
FREE TRAVEL FROM AUGUST 27 TO 29
The free bus travel facility will begin at 6 am on August 27 and remain available until midnight on August 29.
During this period, eligible passengers can use UPSRTC bus services without paying the regular fare, providing additional convenience to people travelling across Uttar Pradesh for the festival.
