Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reacted to the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff, suggesting that the attack may have been driven by “vanity and pride” rather than motives usually associated with criminal violence.

Varma described the incident as a “never-before-seen phenomenon” in a post on X. He wrote, “What happened with @iTIGERSHROFF is a never before seen phenomenon ..Instead of killings relating to extortion, contract murders, settlements etc, for the first time ever, they seem to be wanting to kill for vanity and pride.”

The firing took place on October 19 outside a football club near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Tiger was unharmed in the incident, but his driver and another person were injured. Three people suspected of involvement were later apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan.

Several members of the film industry have expressed concern over the incident and called for swift action against those responsible.

Actor Rakesh Bedi expressed shock over the firing incident during an exclusive conversation with India Today.

“First, I was shocked that something like this was happening in the industry again. Secondly, I was even more shocked because Jackie Shroff and Tiger Shroff have been such nice, non-controversial people. They have never been involved in any kind of controversy or made any untoward statements against anyone. They have been doing their work very honestly, nicely, politely and quietly for so many years,” he said.

Singer Mika Singh has expressed concern over Mumbai’s safety following the incident. “As you all know, Tiger Shroff was targeted in a firing incident. Luckily, he survived, and I pray to God that he continues to stay healthy and safe,” the singer said.

Recalling his move to Mumbai in 2005, the singer said he had often described the city to people around the world as one of the safest places to live and work. He added that Mumbai allowed people to work until the early hours of the morning and travel around freely without the need for security.

On Monday morning, a joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police arrested three men in the case from the Railway Colony area following inputs from Mumbai Police.
