Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted a 21-day furlough and walked out of Rohtak’s Sunaria jail on Tuesday, marking his 17th release since 2020.
Ram Rahim left the jail around 6:05 am in a convoy and headed for the Dera Sacha Sauda ashram in Sirsa, where he is expected to stay during the furlough period.
His latest release comes nearly three months after he was granted a 40-day furlough on May 26.

During that time as well, he stayed at the Dera’s Sirsa ashram during that period before returning to Sunaria jail after completing his furlough.
Ram Rahim was convicted in 2017 for raping two women disciples. He is serving a 20-year prison sentence, with two separate 10-year terms imposed in the rape cases. He has also been sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.
The latest release is his 17th furlough since October 2020. His previous releases include a one-day furlough in October 2020, followed by another one-day furlough in May 2021.
He was granted a 21-day furlough in February 2022 and a 30-day furlough in June that year.
His releases include a 50-day furlough in January 2024, a 20-day furlough in October 2024, a 30-day furlough in January 2025, a 21-day furlough in April 2025, a 40-day furlough in August 2025, another 40-day furlough in January 2026 and a 30-day furlough in May 2026.
With the latest 21-day furlough, Ram Rahim has now been granted parole or furlough 17 times since 2020.
