A court has allowed British rapper Yung Filly t0 fly back to the UK before he is retried over rape allegations in Western Australia.
The YouTube star – whose real name is Andres Barrientos – has been in Perth since he was arrested over allegations he raped, assaulted and choked a young fan on his Australia tour in late 2024.
Barrientos pleaded not guilty to the offences and faced a two-week trial over the allegations in the District Court.
A jury convicted him of assault that related to biting the 20-year-old woman’s face, neck and breasts and leaving an open wound on her.
However, the jury found him not guilty of choking and three rape offences, and could not reach a majority verdict on three other rape charges.
MR Barrientos will be retried over the unresolved charges in the Western Australia District Court at a later date.
At a bail hearing on Thursday, Judge Linda Black said it was likely there would be a significant delay to relist a trial date.
Judge Black said this would be unfair for Yung Filly given he has been required to stay in Western Australia since his arrest in 2024 and it was the second time he was going to trial.
She said proper regard had been given to the Bail Act, including the risk of flight, and believed bail conditions could be granted to Yung Filly to allow him to return to the UK before he is retried.
“After careful consideration the accused is allowed to return to UK until he is needed at trial,” she said.
As part of his bail conditions Yung Filly must reside at an undisclosed address in the UK before he returns to Western Australia no later than 10 days before he is required at court.
He is also restricted from publishing directly or indirectly any comment or statement or participating in any discussions related to the court proceedings.
The matter was adjourned until September 25 for a trial date listing, but Yung Filly will not be required to attend.
