One of Jharkhand’s most wanted gangsters, Sujit Sinha, was killed in a police encounter late Sunday night after allegedly attempting to escape while being shifted from Sahibganj Divisional Jail to Dhanbad Jail.
According to police, the incident took place near the Jamtara border during the prison transfer. Officials said Sinha requested that the convoy stop so he could use the toilet. As the police vehicle halted, he allegedly snatched a rifle from one of the escort personnel and fled into the darkness.

Police claimed the gangster opened fire on the escort team while trying to escape, forcing officers to retaliate. During the exchange of fire, Sinha sustained serious bullet injuries.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The encounter marked the end of the gangster who had long been on the radar of Jharkhand Police and was facing multiple criminal cases.
Following the incident, the encounter site was sealed as senior police officers rushed to the spot and reviewed the sequence of events.
Police said all aspects of the encounter are being examined and standard legal procedures are being followed.
