Sanchita Ugale‘s friend addresses rumours
Speaking to Telly Talk India, actor Geetanjali opened up about Sanchita’s emotional struggles in the months leading up to her death. She also claimed that the production team associated with the actor’s show had tried to get her medical help.
Geetanjali said while people were naturally seeking answers, the truth should emerge through the official investigation.
“People are concerned and want to know what happened, and that should come out because she was my friend, and she will never come back,” she said.
Appealing against speculation, Geetanjali described Sanchita as a talented young actor with a promising future and criticised the rumours surrounding her career and personal life.
“I would only request everyone not to speculate. Do not make things up on your own. You do not know the truth,” she said.
Addressing claims about Sanchita’s personal life, she added, “You are questioning her career. You are linking her to all kinds of relationships. She was not in any relationship.”
Sanchita’s heart was not in it: Geetanjali
Geetanjali recalled that Sanchita had confided in her after returning from a shoot in Gujarat, saying she no longer felt emotionally invested in her work. According to her, this was despite Sanchita reportedly securing a lead role in a show produced by Gul Khan’s production house.
“She told me that her heart was not in it,” Geetanjali said. When she tried to encourage Sanchita by reminding her of the opportunity, the actor allegedly replied, “No, I do not feel good about anything. What kind of life is this? It feels very torturous to me.”
Geetanjali further claimed that Sanchita had been living with depression since the beginning of the year.
“She was in depression, of course. I think this began in January,” she said.
She also rejected reports suggesting that Sanchita had issues with the production house, claiming she was well-liked on set and that there were no disputes with the makers.
‘Sanchita would go five days without sleep’
According to Geetanjali, Sanchita’s deteriorating mental health eventually affected her ability to work and attend shoots, prompting the makers to consider replacing her.
Geetanjali also claimed that members of the production team took Sanchita to multiple doctors in an attempt to understand her condition.
“People from the production themselves used to take her to doctors,” she said, adding that they were trying to determine the cause of her persistent insomnia.
She further alleged that Sanchita would sometimes remain awake for days at a stretch. “She would go without sleeping for five days at a stretch,” Geetanjali claimed.
While she said she did not know what had triggered the condition, Geetanjali believed Sanchita had experienced a deeply distressing incident. “Some kind of trauma had happened to her that was not letting her sleep,” she said.
She’d been saying she wanted to die: Geetanjali
Geetanjali also claimed that Sanchita had repeatedly spoken about not wanting to live in the months before her death. “If a person says so many times that they will die by suicide, then it was not sudden. For six months she had been saying that she wanted to die, that she did not want to live,” she alleged.
She added that she was willing to share relevant messages and information with the investigating authorities if required, but stressed that Sanchita’s private conversations should not be turned into social media content while the probe is ongoing.
Sanchita, 26, was known for her work in television shows and films, including Kumkum Bhagya, Wagle Ki Duniya, Dilwale Dulha Le Jayegi, Silence: The Night Owl Bar Shootout, and Chhaava.
She was found dead at her home on June 14.
