Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform issued alerts over potential danger in Riyadh, Khamis Mushait, Abha and Najran early on Friday, October 23. A subsequent notification confirmed that the danger had passed.
The Saudi Civil Defence advised residents to follow official safety instructions and seek shelter indoors, away from windows, balconies and rooftops. People outdoors were urged to enter the nearest building or take cover behind a solid barrier, while motorists were told to stop away from bridges and high-rise buildings if they received a warning while driving.
The advisory also urged the public to avoid gathering near potentially dangerous locations or filming incidents. Emergency numbers are 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 998 in other regions of the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia intercepts missile and two drones
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said in posts on X that Saudi air defences had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh. In a separate update, he confirmed that two drones launched towards the Kingdom’s southern region had also been intercepted and destroyed.
Joint Forces reject Houthi allegations
On Thursday, October 22, the Joint Forces rejected Houthi allegations that Saudi Arabia intended to target tribal gatherings and civilian communities in Yemen, describing the claims as baseless.
The statement accused the Houthi militia of attempting to mislead public opinion and draw Yemen’s tribes into its conflicts. It reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Yemen’s security and stability and highlighted the historical, religious and social ties between the two countries.
