Collingwood’s ranks are set to be bolstered for their blockbuster clash against Hawthorn on Saturday, with head coach Craig McRae confirming both Scott Pendlebury and Jordan De Goey’s availability for the match.
The Pies are smashed with injury the final rounds of the season with big names including Patrick Lipinski, Jeremy Howe, Brayden Maynard, Darcy Moore, Harry Perryman and Jamie Elliot headlining their injury list.
However, their squad will receive a much-needed boost with the return of the experienced midfield pair this weekend.
Pendlebury in particular has been linked to other clubs leading into this weekend, with the 440-gamer yet to sign on for 2027 and his fellow clubmen Collingwood Steele Sidebottom making the call to retire after an illustrious 18-year career on Thursday afternoon.
McRae said the club “will give him every right” to wait until the end of the season to make his decision.
“I did see a potential report that he wants to play on, I haven’t heard that but I can see there’s interest in other clubs for a reason.
“We’ve had Pendles’ at our side for the last five years, it’s incredible what he can offer to our environment.
“We can see how others would see value in that.
“They are only speculating what Pendles’ could potentially do to a playing group and it’s culture, and teaching and coaching.”
“He’s remarkable what he does to support our young players.”
