Prosecutors have dramatically withdrawn one charge against broadcaster Alan Jones, meaning the number of alleged victims in his high-stakes trial has been whittled down to five.
The court was told on Monday that one count of indecent assault relating to a man, who can only be known as “Complainant F”, had been withdrawn and dismissed.
The charge related to an allegation that Mr Jones touched the complainant’s bottom, on the outside of his clothing, at a function in Sydney in 2012.
It means that Mr Jones is now facing 19 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching.
Mr Jones was facing allegations brought by six complainants, however F will no longer be a part of the trial, which has entered its eighth week.
The broadcaster has continuously denied the allegations made by all complainants.
The trial will continue on Tuesday.
