Kolkata: An 18-year-old, his father and his friend were paraded naked and insulted by the family of a teenage girl in West Bengal’s Kolkata because the young man was allegedly caught kissing the girl, who is 13 years old.
The father was reportedly given two choices – either kill his son or walk with him naked – a chilling case of mob justice.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 25, when the teenagers met with his friend in the Basundhara Park area within Sarsuna police station limits. The girl’s maternal uncle saw them and alerted her father and uncle.
The male members took her away and dragged the 18-year-old and his friend into their house, assaulted them and forced him to inform his father.
His father rushed to the spot and begged them to spare his son. But the attackers assaulted him and threatened to shoot all three dead.
“After that, the girl’s family allegedly handed the man’s father a firearm and threatened him with a choice: either to kill his son or walk naked for about 50 meters on the lane outside their home,” police said.
The duo were subsequently stripped and allegedly paraded naked in public. A video of the shocking incident has circulated on social media, prompting police action.
Based on the father’s complaint, a first information report (FIR) has been filed under relevant sections of criminal intimidation, kidnapping, voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, wrongful confinement, defamation and attempt to murder.
The 13-year-old girl’s father, mother and her maternal uncle have been arrested. Further investigations are on.
