Nivea has revealed her cancer is in remission.
The 44-year-old singer, whose full name is Nivea B. Hamilton, has given a positive health update after revealing just over two months ago that she had been diagnosed with leukaemia earlier in 2026.
Appearing on The Tamron Hall Show this week, she said: “I’m very grateful. I couldn’t believe it because this happened to be this year, only a few months ago.”
Although the Laundromat hitmaker knew the success rate of the medication she was taking, she noted how “everybody’s different”.
She added: “It’s been an adjustment, like the symptoms. I’m tired a lot. I have other issues. I’m bleeding. I have fibroids.
“It’s a long little list, but I’m still on the better side than most. I’m not complaining…I’m not complaining at all.”
Nivea, who was nominated for the Best R+B Performance prize at the 2003 Grammy Awards for her track Don’t Mess With My Man – revealed her diagnosis in late July.
When asked what she is most thankful for on Cadillac Chronicles, she said: “Well, first of all, I was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year, and I’m so grateful to God.
“I’ve been going through treatment, and everything is going great so far. And I expect it to continue. Amen, amen, amen.”
The singer revealed she was staying as positive as possible, and feels “very grateful for life”.
She added: “It’s so cliche to say you don’t know the time nor the hour, but it’s true and it just helped me put a lot of things in perspective, and I live in gratitude, like, religiously, and I’m just grateful for everything.”
Nivea – who has daughter Navy, 21, and 20-year-old twins London and Christian with ex-husband The-Dream and 16-year-old son Neal with former fiancé Lil Wayne – revealed that as well as her family, she has other career goals to achieve.
She said: “I’m doing things I wanna do. I’m definitely back into my music, and I’m going to school for audio engineering. I’ve always wanted to learn how to engineer, and mixing engineering in particular.
“In general, I’m just doing all the things, honey! I’m loving all my children and just being grateful. I’m taking every opportunity that comes my way!”
Nivea dropped her self titled debut album in 2001, following up with Complicated in 2005, and Animalistic the next year.
She returned with Mirrors in 2019, one year after she teamed up with ex Lil Wayne on Dope New Gospel on his Tha Carter V album.
