Thanks so much for joining us this evening.
We will be back with another AFL live blog tomorrow night, so please join us then.
Bye for now.
Crows coach Matthew Nicks declined to offer too much comment on the Taylor Walker incident, which will surely get close attention from the match review panel.
Multiple commentators have already called for Walker to be suspended for pushing Connor O’Sullivan into the path of a pack.
“We will hope there wasn’t much in it, but I can’t comment on it as I haven’t had a good look at it,” Nicks said.
Crows coach Matthew Nicks has praised the drive of captain Jordan Dawson and his side for breaking their losing streak against Geelong and winning such a tight contest.
Nicks said Dawson was incredible with his leadership and his late goal, while his side will take belief from beating the Cats.
“He’s not bad. He’s a warrior. He’s not the only one. He, incredibly, just kept going,” Nicks said of Dawson.
“We had a brief chat at three-quarter-time and whether he might be best forward, but he said, ‘Give me five minutes,’ and he did an unbelievable job on the ball.
Cats coach Chris Scott has called for coaches to not have to walk through the crowd after quarter breaks.
Scott spoke to security after a Crows fan appeared to overstep the mark in something said to the Cats coach as he walked back to the coach’s box.
Scott said he didn’t say anything to the fan, but some commentary was directed towards him. Broadcast cameras showed Scott giving a filthy look towards someone in the crowd.
“Of course they do, they are nuffies,” Scott said when asked if something was said to him.
“This is one of the best stadiums in the world. I love it. But it is an oversight that coaches should have to walk through the crowd.
“I don’t want to do it at any ground.”
Cats coach Chris Scott admits he can see a pattern in his side failing to build big leads when they are on top in matches.
Scott said his Cats’ one-point loss to the Crows was one that could have been different if they kicked goals when in position to do so, and that’s something that has reared its head a few times this season.
“I don’t think it was won or lost in the last few minutes; we had our chances,” Scott said.
“We were a bit disappointed with our execution. But it was high pressure and difficult to communicate in that situation. It was quite impressive to give ourselves the chance to win the game.
Jason Dunstall and Leigh Montagna have called for Taylor Walker to be suspended for pushing Connor O’Sullivan into a pack of players.
No players appeared to be injured in that play, but the pair said pushing players into packs had to “rubbed out of the game”.
“I reckon Taylor Walker will be lucky to get away with a fine. I thought that was what we were trying to stamp out,” Montagna said on Kayo Sports.
“He was clearly trying to push the player into the contest. He wasn’t trying to hurt him on purpose, but it was dangerous.”
First-gamer Hugo Hall-Kahan admits he may not sleep tonight after a “whirlwind” start to his AFL career.
The 22-year-old only arrived in Adelaide last Wednesday from VFL club Williamstown following the mid-season draft and was thrown into the action by Crows coach Matthew Nicks, who clearly admires him.
He finished with 16 possessions and some stitches across the bridge of his nose following a head clash with teammate Toby Murray.
“I’ve trained twice. I flew in [last] Wednesday and trained on Thursday, and we trained on Monday,” he told Kayo Sports.
Adelaide were left to count the cost of a titanic yet bruising one-point over Geelong, their gritty triumph coming with three down on the bench.
The Crows were down to a single rotation for part of a carnage-filled last quarter when Callum Ah Chee, Jordon Butts, Toby Murray and Hugo Hall-Kahan all went off with injuries.
Ah Chee, who was giving Tom Stewart a bath, exited the contest after re-aggravating his troublesome right hamstring and was put on ice early in the final term.
But the hits kept coming.
You can’t help but feel for Crows skipper Jordan Dawson, who has been through a heartbreaking start to this season following the death of his older brother.
Dawson took a little time away but has kept playing despite his pain, and some of that was evident post-game as tears flowed after his stellar performance.
But Dawson also had a smile for first-gamer Hugo Hall-Kahan after the Crows sang their team song.
