A specially-abled woman allegedly conspired with her lover to murder her husband and bury his body near their home in Faridabad, police said on Tuesday. The body was recovered eight days later, and the woman and her lover were arrested within 24 hours.
The victim, identified as Shyamveer, 42, was killed on the evening of August 16 after his wife, Keshav, and her lover, Kamat, had been plotting the murder for more than a month, according to police.

The case came to light after Shyamveer’s family became suspicious about his whereabouts and found his body buried in a nearby plot.
According to ACP Crime Aman Yadav, Kamat, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district, lived with Shyamveer at his home in Mojabad village in Faridabad. Police said Kamat was allegedly having an affair with Keshav, who is from Hathras.
Shyamveer had allegedly become aware of the affair, leading to frequent arguments with his wife, particularly when he was drunk, police said. The couple allegedly then decided to eliminate him and had been planning the murder for over a month, according to investigators.
On August 16, Kamat allegedly gave Shyamveer alcohol. Once he became drunk, Kamat attacked him on the head with an interlocking tile, killing him, police said.
Keshav allegedly locked the door from outside to prevent anyone from hearing the commotion. The two then buried Shyamveer’s body in a pit near their home.
The murder remained undiscovered for eight days.
According to police, Shyamveer’s brother Rambir and his son-in-law became suspicious after Keshav contacted them and said Shyamveer had left home following a quarrel several days earlier.
She allegedly told them she wanted to speak to them about the matter. When they reached the house and asked about Shyamveer’s whereabouts, however, they did not receive a satisfactory explanation.
The family then noticed a nearby plot covered with bushes and became suspicious. They dug at the spot and found Shyamveer’s body buried underground before informing the police.
On August 24, the Faridabad Control Room received information from police about a man allegedly buried underground. A police team reached the spot and exhumed the body in the presence of a duty magistrate, police said.
Following a complaint by Shyamveer’s brother Rambir, a case was registered under sections related to murder and an investigation was launched.
The Crime Branch team subsequently arrested Keshav and Kamat within 24 hours, ACP Yadav said. During interrogation, police found that Kamat had been living with Shyamveer and that she was in a relationship with Keshav.
Police are continuing their investigation into the murder and the circumstances surrounding the burial of Shyamveer’s body.
