Stormzy, James Blake and Emily Eavis have been honoured by the Ivors Academy for their contribution to music.

The grime icon, the singer-songwriter and the Glastonbury organiser were among the recipients at this year’s Ivors Academy Honours ceremony on Thursday (01.10.26) evening at the Intercontinental London.

Lord Neri, CEO of The Ivors Academy, said in a statement: “Congratulations to all of our honourees.

“We are proud to honour your achievements and how you’re making a positive difference to music and its creators.

“From establishing inclusive spaces and opening up the world’s biggest stages, to championing new music, meeting ambition with opportunity and getting creators the money they’re due, each of you shows what can happen when we lift each other up.”

The awards are handed out to creators and executives who have set higher standards across the music industry, as well as celebrating those helping to carve out a better future for artists.

James Blake was honoured for his artistry, and advocacy for songwriter’s rights.

Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, whose prize was presented by Elbow’s Guy Garvey, was hailed for her impact on music and culture, and a commitment to emerging talent.

Stormzy was recognised for his impact on music and culture in Britain, and a commitment to creating opportunities for other artists, including his #Merky initiative.

Other honourees included MNEK, Sentric Music CEO Chris Meehan, and IMRO CEO Victor Finn.

Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, added: “Tonight is a moment to appreciate the people putting in the hard graft to make music a better place – supporting songwriters and composers, tackling inequality and exclusion, championing diverse voices and making sure creators get a fair deal.

“These are people who show up, see what’s wrong and have the resolve to do something about it.

“They use their position to make things better for others. And that deserves to be recognised.”

Sir Elton John was honoured by the Ivors Academy at the Ivor Novello Awards in May this year, recognising his contributions and the way he’s championed fresh talent.

Meanwhile, the likes of Thom Yorke, Sam Fender and Rosalia also won prizes at the ceremony, while George Michael received a posthumous Academy Fellowship.
