Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at this year’s Emmys via a pre-recorded comedic Law and Order: Special Victims Unit sketch.

The skit began with the Emmys host and SVU star Mariska Hargitay getting her colleagues to “think like Swifties” in order to answer the biggest question of the broadcast: “Will Taylor Swift be at the Emmys?”

It was the question on many people’s lips after the Cruel Summer singer was nominated for her first batch of Emmys in 10 years, but those awards were announced to other winners at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards earlier this month.

In the four-minute segment that aired midway into the awards, Hargitay and her SVU cohorts, including Ice T, Kelli Giddish, and Peter Scanavino welcomed a new team member to crack the case of Swift’s whereabouts by throwing clues around.

The camera then cut to Swift walking into the sketch, announcing her arrival by saying, “Hey guys. This isn’t adding up.”

“Who asked you?” Ice T replied.

But Swift, wearing a grey suit and her signature red lipstick, continued: “Our perp has a clear M.O. A lot of this doesn’t fit the pattern, and I don’t think everything is a clue.”

“Why would she be showing up to the ceremony tonight?” she asked. “She’s probably gonna be sitting at home playing with those cats she’s named after TV show characters.”

“Maybe she’ll do one of those cool pre-taped sketch things to support the host.”

Swift is an SVU fan and named one of her cats after Olivia Benson, the character Hargitay has played for 28 seasons and even won an Emmy for.

The skit ended with Swift and Hargitay huddling close together as the iconic Law & Order “dun-dun” rang out.

“It’s so cool when it does that,” Hargitay said.

Swift replied: “It’s actually my ringtone.”

While the Anti-Hero singer didn’t make the awards ceremony in the flesh, her cameo was sure to delight Swifties around the globe and SVU fans alike.

The 36-year-old was in fact at the Kansas City Chiefs’ home game opener against the Denver Broncos where she was photographed sitting in a box next to Tom Cruise, to cheer on her husband, Travis Kelce.
