A teenager has been charged with allegedly showering a Perth rideshare driver with pepper spray during an attempt to steal his vehicle.
The driver picked up two males from Balga in Perth’s north on Thursday afternoon, WA Police said in a statement.
Police allege the pair threatened the driver while a 15-year-old boy brandished OC spray.
The driver fled the vehicle at a Greenwood service station, but it’s alleged the teen followed him and showered him with the pepper spray.
It is alleged the two males fled on foot, but a 15-year-old was arrested at Balga a short time later.
He has been charged with aggravated armed robbery, attempt to steal a motor vehicle, making a threat to do an unlawful act and causing poison to be administered.
He was due to face the Perth Children’s Court on Saturday.
Police are trying to locate the second male and anyone with information or footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
