Four people, including three children and a woman, were killed after a passenger-packed Eco van overturned into a deep water-filled pond in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district on Saturday. The accident occurred near Phoolpur village in the Maniyan police station area amid intermittent heavy rain and severe waterlogging.
The van was carrying around a dozen people from Inchhapura village who were travelling to the Jaharpir Baba shrine near Phoolpur. The driver reportedly lost sight of the road due to waterlogging, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and plunge into the pond.

As the van began to sink, children and women trapped inside cried for help, triggering panic at the spot. Local residents rushed into the water and managed to open the van’s doors and windows, rescuing the trapped passengers.
The injured were taken to the Maniyan government hospital with the help of ambulances and private vehicles. Doctors declared three children and a woman dead, while several other passengers sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Police reached the scene after receiving information and took control of the situation. Preliminary information suggests that waterlogging caused by heavy rain may have led to the accident. Police are recording statements from the injured and investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
